Senior Electrical Design Engineer

OVERVIEW: A Senior Electrical Design Engineer in the construction industry is responsible for leading the design and implementation of electrical systems within construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the production of shop drawings required for electrical services.
• Ensure layout, detail and schematic design drawings are followed in the production of shop drawings.
• Ensure Engineering Manager and/or Project manager are made aware of any engineering / coordination related issues / problems that arise when preparing shop drawings or reviewing design information.
• Review all electrical drawings prior to formal submission.
• Share important engineering information for coordinating with mechanical and public health services.
• Ensure all Electrical LV/MV/HV &ELV services are coordinated with each other and with
mechanical equipment and other building interfaces.
• Carry out design verification activities to ensure compliance with codes, the original design intent and best practice.
• Ensure engineering information is made available to the construction team in advance of site activities.
• Ensure electrical engineering information for construction is in compliance with codes, best practice and the original design intent.
• Execute electrical engineering works required as a result of Contractual instructions where applicable and directed by the Engineering Manager and Project Manager.
• Raise RFI’s to clarify anomalies and ambiguities in contract design information.
• Assist the Engineering Manager in achieving targets for production of electrical shop drawings.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior design engineers and CAD operatives.
• Attend and/or arrange design/coordination meetings with Main Contractor, Design Team and specialist subcontractors/suppliers.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 10+ years minimum of relevant work experience managing multiple construction projects is required.
• Time Management – organized, set priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task and a Team player.
• Ability to be reasonably on-call as necessary to support the ongoing 24/7 operations of our clients which may include evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• Exceptional expertise in utilizing AutoCAD for the precise and efficient production of electrical shop drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design specifications.
• Bachelor’s in Civil or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant.
