OVERVIEW: A Senior Structural Design Engineer in the construction industry is responsible for leading the design and analysis of structures within construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements.
• Work with Designers and Structural Analysis Engineers to optimize designs.
• Oversee and approve work by in-house and contract Designers and Design Engineers.
• Interface with internal and external customers to present design development outputs.
• Interface with procurement and manufacturing to facilitate transition from design to production.
• Review customer system structural requirements and lead decomposition to lower level requirements.
• Provide sound technical expertise when applying engineering principles, techniques and methods to design of infrastructure projects.
• Provides technical guidance to Design Engineers, CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
• Performs complex engineering tasks effectively and accurately
• Review and extracts engineering information from CAD Drawings & Revit.
• Prepares engineering designs computations, sketches, and review final design drawings/documents.
• Establishes the design requirements of the project, and monitors the draft and final deliverable for adherence to these criteria.
• Assure design is in conformance with time, cost, schedule and contractual requirements.
• Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
• Assist Engineering Manager in supervising assistant and Junior Engineers.
• Review designs prepared by others as part of a Quality Management process.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 10+ years minimum of relevant work experience managing multiple construction projects is required.
• Time Management – organized, set priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task and a Team player.
• Ability to be reasonably on-call as necessary to support the ongoing 24/7 operations of our clients which may include evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• Exceptional expertise in utilizing advanced structural design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS) to optimize designs, and conduct structural analysis is required.
• Bachelor’s in Civil or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant.
