Procurement Manager

OVERVIEW: A Procurement Manager in the construction industry is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business
• Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors
• Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries
• Communicating with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production
• Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement
• Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
• Supervising a purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary
• Working closely with the company legal department to make sure contracts and terms are favorable
• Build long-term relationships with vendors in the industry
• Overseeing and managing the IT systems that track shipments, inventory, and the supply of goods.
• Preparing procurement reports.
• Keep abreast of changing industry trends

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 10+ years minimum of relevant work experience managing multiple construction projects is required.
• Time Management – organized, set priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task and a Team player.
• Ability to be reasonably on-call as necessary to support the ongoing 24/7 operations of our clients which may include evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• Exceptional negotiation skills to secure favorable terms, pricing, and agreements with suppliers, contributing to cost-effective procurement.
• Bachelor’s in Civil or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant.
