OVERVIEW: A Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry is responsible for managing costs, contracts, and financial aspects of construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITES:
• Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies.
• Run cost analyses of the various types of work as a forerunner to tender preparation.
• Select, price and source construction materials.
• Advise clients on procurement strategies.
• Factor in the implications of health and safety regulations.
• Identify commercial risks and help develop suitable responses.
• Prepare the tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, with the architect and the client.
• Select subcontractors, agree the scope of services and allocate work.
• Monitor and control costs throughout the project.
• Identify risks surrounding the project and the likelihood of cost variation.
• Track any changes to the design or actual work and adjust budget projections.
• Value completed work and arrange payments to subcontractors.
• Liaise between site managers, project managers, site engineers and the client
• Prepare summary reports for the client and other relevant stakeholders.
• Run cost analyses for ongoing repair and maintenance work.
• Advise on any outstanding contractual claims remaining.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 10+ years minimum of relevant work experience managing multiple construction projects is required.
• Time Management – organized, set priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task and a Team player.
• Ability to be reasonably on-call as necessary to support the ongoing 24/7 operations of our clients which may include evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• Proficient in advanced analytical tools and quantity surveying software with strong negotiation skills dealing with clients and stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s in Civil or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant.
